Looking ahead…

sometimes (ok a lot of the time) Caitlin and I talk about our future together – what we want to do, where we want to live, things like that. a few days back we were talking about it and I pretty much love what came up!

Ok, I’m almost sure I’m going to go into Speech therapy. I love phonetics, I love languages – in fact I can have a fairly decent accent in most of the eauropean and scandinavian languages, once I learn the basic phonetics and a bit of vocabulary. In 6th grade I taught my teacher how to say ‘Tzipporah’. I help my Mom a lot, and also I sometimes find myself helping My French Teacher pronounce English words. lol, she even ASKS me for help sometimes. Once I got my degree, I would like to start my own private practice.

Now, Caitlin wants to get her degree in Environmental Sciences, which I think is awesome. she would work full time, I’m not sure doing what but she knows a lot of professions in the environmental sciences area. Now, over time (we’re talking a few years), she and I would be saving up money for what she REALLY wants to do. See, Caitlin wants to have a small farm – but not a typical farm with the typical animals. She wants a farm with Llamas, camels, Angora rabbits, dogs, and more exotic animals. Now I know at first it sounds very unrealistic, but actually there are a lot of people who do this and once they get it started it is very profitable.

See, a farm with exotic animals is year round profit. Average animals’ mils and furs sells for less since they are so common. But each season there is a good market -

Your either selling Camel’s milk and Llama’s milk (high prices for these are common), the furs (angora, chiengora, mohair, and cashmere sell very well), in the spring you can make it a petting zoo and sell off some of the babies – since nobody really eats camel, llama, or other exitic meats here you would be selling it to other prospective farmers.

She would still work part time, and I would drive into town to do my speech therapy thing.

It would be so awesome!

see, neither of us really want fancy stuff. Not interested in cable TV, just something with no channels for us to watch movies on. Big fancy car? how about a small, gas efficient car that costs way less and gets crazy good mpg…yeah that sounds better! Our biggest expenses will be from running our farm, but speech therapists wit their own private practices pull in anywhere from 80 – 150 thousand a year. Plus the profit from the farm would be pretty good, so money wouldn’t be too bad. Other than the basics – bills, taxes, the few insurances (car, health, something to cover the risks of a petting zoo), that would be it. Neither of us are big spenders.

So there you have it!
it sounds so awesome to me.

Now I know about the ‘if’s and the’but’s, so don’t think you have to remind me and get me all discouraged. any good goal has some trials and errors to it, eh?
